  • Built an image-segmentation pipeline end to end — data collection through deployment — raising model F1 from 77% to 99% via augmentation, dataset curation in FiftyOne, and fine-tuning Mask R-CNN in PyTorch/Detectron2.
  • Fine-tuned a RetinaNet detector for a novel manipulation task; used unsupervised clustering for efficient data tagging.
  • Wrote and calibrated a C++ ROS 2 driver for an RGB-D camera, from data conversion through intrinsic/extrinsic calibration and documentation.
  • Led an internal effort on acoustic UAS detection and classification; authored the full technical volume for a $500k proposal on LLM-based intelligence estimation and contributed to a $10M proposal.

Autonomous ground-vehicle R&D for defense and energy clients: human-robot teaming, multimodal sensor fusion, and operations in hazardous environments.

  • Lead architect of a multi-object tracking framework in Python/C++/ROS 2, fusing vision and LiDAR detections; optimized core algorithms to ~60 Hz for embedded robot hardware and ranked on the nuScenes tracking leaderboard. Published at IEEE RO-MAN 2024.
  • Built a complete real-time robot audition system — sound-source localization, beamforming, VAD, and speech recognition — with custom PyTorch/TorchAudio models on a mobile robot.
  • Army Research Laboratory graduate fellow (2023–24): proposed and integrated novel perception and foundation-model capabilities with weekly government stakeholder updates.
  • Deployed commanding, localization, and navigation algorithms onto ground robots under contract with Army Futures Command — all objectives on time and on budget.
  • In a team of seven, enabled autonomous manipulation behaviors from a single human demonstration (IEEE IROS 2023).
